Ugly, ugly half for the Flames, who were held without a touchdown in a half for the first time since the first half of the Elon game last season.
Quick hitters:
* The offensive line is a mess. Rashad Jennings is averaging 2.8 yards per carry and there are no creases in the middle, where he does much of his work. Jennings had 15 yards on his first two carries, then WCU called a timeout. Whatever adjustments the Catamounts made worked. Jennings had 40 yards on his next 15 carries.
* Liberty should have had a touchdown, but tight end Corey Rasberry dropped a wide-open pass at the WCU 5, with no one within 10 yards of him.
* Brock Smith looks oddly off today. Lots of his passes are sailing high and long, and there have been several communication breakdowns between Smith and his receivers.
* The Flames have played well defensively, though. WCU's touchdown came after Asa Chapman was whistled for roughing the passer on an incomplete third-down pass.
* Western Carolina's kick coverage has been outstanding. Dominic Bolden hasn't come close to finding a crease in the kick or punt return games.
