Linda Jamerson’s home was one of two houses reduced to crumbling bricks when the Transco pipeline that ran next to her house exploded into a fireball. The blast also destroyed the home of Calvin Childress, damaged several others and left five people injured. The cause is still under investigation.
The Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office set up a fund for Jamerson, an employee there, to help her recover in the wake of the explosion.
“They lost everything in the fire,” said Sheriff Wilson Staples. “I know there have been a lot of people asking how they can help the family.”
On Friday, the fund was established at the Farmer’s Bank of Appomattox in the name of the Jamerson Family Recovery Fund.
Staples hopes that those who want to help will make a contribution to the family to help them rebuild their lives.
Staples said Jamerson is working to get necessary paperwork back together, like birth certificates, and that is an overwhelming process.
