Bernice King, the youngest daughter of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, will speak today at Liberty University’s convocation service, the college announced Thursday.
The service, at Liberty’s Vines Center, starts at 10 a.m. and is open to the public, said college spokesman Johnnie Moore.
This will be her first time speaking at Liberty.
King, who holds a master’s degree in divinity and a doctorate in law from Emory University, speaks regularly before audiences from the White House to the headquarters of companies such as DuPont, AT&T, NIKE and The Salvation Army.
King also serves full time at the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in a suburb of Atlanta, and is a member of the State Bar of Georgia.
In 2004, King came under scrutiny by some and received praise from others after participating in a march against same-sex marriage in Atlanta.
