SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (AP) — A Spotsylvania woman has pleaded guilty to charges that she abducted her friend's infant son.

Nineteen-year-old Ashley Herrell is scheduled to be sentenced July 8. She pleaded guilty Tuesday in Spotsylvania County Circuit Court to abduction and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

In exchange for the plea, prosecutor Crystal Montague agreed to drop a child abuse charge.

According to the plea agreement, Herrell abducted the 1-month-old boy on Sept. 18 while visiting her friend in Spotsylvania. She took the baby to Lynchburg.

She was a student at Liberty University for one semester but no longer attends the school, said LU spokesman Johnnie Moore.

Herrell turned the baby over to Lynchburg authorities later that night.
