»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries is investigating a hit-and-run involving two boats on Smith Mountain Lake that happened around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators say a person was in a boat fishing near marker R-73 in the Roanoke River part of the lake when another boat struck the stern of the first one, causing substantial damage.

No one was hurt.

The boat that caused the accident left the scene and went to Hardy boat ramp.

Investigators say witnesses saw the white boat being towed by a red Chevrolet Blazer headed north toward Vinton.

Anyone with information about the boat involved in this hit and run is asked to call the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries Crime Line at 1-800-237-5712.
