Students to move back to area colleges

Liberty University sophomore Casey Raines receives roses from her boyfriend, sophomore Kevin Arevalo, on Wednesday morning. Arevalo, along with Eric Peterson, Roy Badillo and Mike Fecteau, all from dorm East 13, brought breakfast and coffee to the girls of their sister dorm, East 5. The food and flowers were delivered through a window into the dorm.

Around the area, college students are moving into their dormitories, some meeting their roomates for the first time. Following is a list of local college move-in dates.

Liberty University

• Freshmen moved in Wednesday.

• Returning students begin moving in Friday.

• Classes begin Monday.

• First convocation is 10 a.m. Monday with guest speaker Vernon Brewer, founder of the Forest-based nonprofit World Help.

Lynchburg College

• Freshmen move in Saturday; President Kenneth Garren will help for an hour or so in the morning.

• Upperclassmen move in next Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Classes begin Aug. 27

Randolph College

• Freshmen move in next Tuesday for orientation.

• Upperclassmen begin moving in Aug. 29.

• Classes begin Aug. 31.

• Opening convocation is Sept. 1, led by President John Klein.

Sweet Briar College

• Freshmen move in Saturday.

• Upperclassmen move in Sunday and Monday.

• Green Village, the first new student housing in more than 50 years, will house residents for the first time this semester. The townhouse-style apartments accommodate 60 students.

• Classes begin Aug. 27
