BEDFORD — A preliminary hearing for a Bedford County man charged in May with attempted murder was postponed Friday so that a mental health evaluation could be ordered, according to the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney.
Jay Woodrow Creasy, 29, was arrested in late May after threatening two Bedford County deputies searching a barn near his home, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
The release stated the deputies were investigating a report of a burglary on Homestead Road south of Bedford when Creasy confronted one of the deputies with an arrow notched in a compound bow.
The deputies attempted to Taser Creasy, who was later cornered in a nearby home, where he was found with a knife and ax, the release stated.
He was not a suspect in the burglary.
Another hearing is scheduled for Oct. 23 in Bedford General District Court.
