Appomattox
- Appomattox County High School FFA members took first and second place in the junior competition at the 2009 HUB FFA Federation Tractor Operating Career Development Event hosted recently by William Campbell High School. Caleb Baker took first place , earning the right to represent the ACHS team at the Southside Area FFA contest to be held at Chatham High School. Terrell Franklin took second place in the competition.

- Holy Cross Regional Catholic School students William Loftus and Nina Rezai took fourth place in the Public Forum event of the Virginia Catholic Forensics Meet #1, qualifying them for the state tournament. Loftus and Rezai also qualified for the state tournament at the SW Virginia Forensics League Meet #1, taking third place in the Public Forum event.
