The body of a woman believed to be Brenda Eades, a Pittsylvania County woman missing since Dec. 15, was found at Leesville Lake on Sunday.
Lt. Boyd Arnold III, of the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, said Eades’ family had been using a helicopter to search the area Sunday.
“They were flying this afternoon, and spotted something on the edge of the property we’ve been searching,” Arnold said Sunday.
The helicopter landed, and people on board found the body.
Arnold said the body has been sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke for identification and a complete autopsy, but that the clothing on the body matched the description of what Eades was wearing when she disappeared.
Bad weather and high water levels slowed searchers down, Arnold said.
“The weather has been a hindrance to us, but it was better today,” Arnold said. “The water was also down quite a bit; it was lower today than any other time (during the search).”
