First off, props to the CCU band for a nice rendition of Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4," one of the more underrated pep-band songs. Virginia's band does a nice version, too.
Now into some quick pre-game notes:
* Officials tonight, for those who care about these sorts of things: Ted Valentine, John Corio, Raymie Stevens.
* Brolin Floyd was working with the first team at practice Sunday, and I assume he'll be back in the starting lineup tonight in place of Austin Smith. Lineups haven't been posted yet. (EDIT -- Lineups in, Floyd is starting).
* If the Flames win tonight, they'll clinch a home game in the Big South tournament.
* Jesse Sanders was named Big South freshman of the week earlier today, his second award of the season.
* I won't post any practice specifics, because that's generally frowned upon by coaches who allow us access and such. But I'll say this. Liberty coach Ritchie McKay ran a practice Sunday that made it seem like he wasn't all that happy about how his team played defense Saturday at Charleston Southern. The Bucs shot 51 percent in the second half.
* Packed house for senior night here at Kimbel.
* As expected, CCU point guard Mario Sisinni isn't dressed. He hurt his ankle making the game-winning shot last week against High Point and will probably miss the rest of the season.
* My well-documented man crush the last few years on High Point's Arizona Reid has been replaced with a similar man crush on Coastal's Joseph Harris, which is fitting enough since the two have similar games. They're both undersized four men who are double-double machines. They outwork bigger posts for their boards, and Harris has been an absolute beast of late. I know it was VMI, but 33 points and 22 rebounds against anyone is impressive. The guy is just difficult to defend. I think he'll get his tonight. The key for Liberty will be slowing guards Mario Edwards and Dexter Moore, both of whom have played very well of late.
That's all for now.
