The second portion of a mural designed to evoke thoughts of hope, change and cultural inclusion will be unveiled and dedicated in Lynchburg on Tuesday after the historic inauguration of President Barack Obama.
The mural, designed by local students participating in the Teen Cultural Diversity Art Project at the Jubilee Family Development Center, features a portrait of Obama.
The artwork was designed by students during a 10-week workshop on mural concept design, drawing and painting. The workshop, directed by Mike Twery, was designed to help young people create a positive uplifting message of hope, racial unity and civic responsibility.
The Teen Cultural Diversity Project aims to provide young people with a better understanding of their peers from different ethnic backgrounds.
The dedication begins at 4:30 p.m. and will include light refreshments.
Tours of the Jubilee Center, located at 1512 Florida Ave., will be given following the dedication.
