ACHIEVEMENTS
Bedford
-Heritage High School student Bobby Jones, an eleventh-grader, was chosen to attend the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference held Jan. 17-21 in Washington, D.C. Jones and other high school students will witness the 44th Presidential Inauguration, participate in round table forums with congressional members and attend an inaugural ball.
-Otter River Elementary School student Dailee Helfrich was named the winner of the school spelling bee. Alison Sipler was the runner up. Helfrich will advance to the County Spelling Bee to be held Feb. 5 at Liberty High School.
-Huddleston Elementary School student Rachell Madelle was named the winner of the school spelling bee. Kendall Dolan was the runner up. Madelle will advance to the County Spelling Bee to be held Feb. 5 at Liberty High School.
Private Schools
-Holy Cross Regional Catholic School students Jessica Winters and Marissa Parker-Pond took first and second place, respectively, in the November 2008 Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States ‘Patriot’s Pen’ essay contest.
