A Friday night wreck sent a Rustburg teenager to the hospital after her car struck a pole on the side of Lawyers Road, according to Virginia State Police.
Trooper P.A. Eckenrode said the crash happened around 10:40 p.m., as the 17-year-old was driving her Toyota Camry east on Lawyers Road in Campbell County, near the Lyn-Dan Heights Volunteer Fire Department.
Eckenrode said the car, going into a downhill turn, spun 180 degrees and ran off the right side of the road, the rear of the vehicle striking the pole.
The driver was taken via the state’s Med-flight III helicopter to Lynchburg General Hospital after emergency crews cut her out of the vehicle.
Eckenrode said he did not know her condition.
He said speed was a factor in the wreck, but any other causes have not been determined, and the crash is still under investigation.
Charges are pending, Eckenrode said.
