Police: Amherst County man arrested after U.S. 29 speeding

A Madison Heights man was arrested Friday after he wouldn’t stop his car for Amherst County deputies, police said.

Kevin Meyers, 29, of Amelon Road, was speeding along U.S. 29 at more than 100 miles an hour, police said.

Deputies chased him down Sprouse Drive, where he stopped and was arrested.

Meyers is charged with attempting to elude police, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.

He was released on $2,500 secure bond and is scheduled to appear in Amherst General District Court.
