RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Gov. Timothy M. Kaine says Virginia has received more than $1 billion in federal stimulus funding for infrastructure projects across the commonwealth.
Kaine said Monday the funding includes $123 million for highway safety and construction improvements, $116 million for bridge replacement or repair and $70 million for sewage plant projects.
Virginia is expected to receive a total of about $4.8 billion in stimulus funding.
Included in that amount is $25 million going to Lynchburg for combined sewer overflow work.
Amherst Countyis getting nearly $875,000 for bridge repair and replacement work, while Campbell County is getting $700,000 for improvements to Brookneal's water system.
