Liberty University is working on a proposal that would end the school's official endorsement of all political campus clubs.
Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. said Saturday that the proposal would categorize political clubs as unofficial clubs, which would not receive money from the university, but would still be able to use the university's name.
Unofficial clubs, Falwell said, will now be able to use the school's master calendar system to take advantage of the school's facilities.
Formerly, unofficial clubs were relegated to areas such as dorm rooms, student centers and the dining hall.
Falwell said unofficial clubs that choose to sponsor a candidate whose stance is contrary to the mission of the school, would be denied use of the school's main facilities.
