Two Amherst County homes were damaged by fire Sunday, with one a complete loss, said Amherst County Public Safety Director Gary Roakes.
No one was injured in either blaze.
A vacant home on Piedmont Road, in the northeastern part of the county, burned in an early morning fire, starting about 1 a.m., Roakes said.
“That house was a total loss,” he said. “It was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on scene.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, he said Sunday night.
An electrical fire caused about $50,000 in damage to another unoccupied house in Madison Heights on Sunday evening, Roakes estimated.
The fire on South Coolwell Road, at the intersection with Troy Lane, started at about 9:20 p.m., Roakes said. Firefighters contained the blaze to the one-story structure’s attic and roof.
The homeowners are not currently living in the house, he said, and no personal belongings were damaged.
