Two Lynchburg men shot in legs Sunday morning

Police are searching for the person who shot two Lynchburg men in their legs.

The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of Yorktown Ave. When police arrived, they found Johnathan Alonzo Payne, 19, with a gunshot to his leg. After taking Payne to the hospital, police found Tajuan O’Brien Johnson, 23, who was there being treated for a gunshot to his leg.

Payne and Johnson told police they were shot by an unknown person as they stood in front of an apartment building. Johnson said that once he realized he’d been shot, he ran to the hospital.

Both men were treated and released.

Police ask that anyone with information call Det. AC Riley at (434) 455-6175 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-798-5900.
