Writers express support for Valentine
Madison Heights and Lynchburg have been fortunate to be represented by Del. Shannon Valentine for two terms in the General Assembly. She has made a significant and positive impact on the region and the state by working in a bipartisan fashion and creating partnerships that enhance the quality of life in Virginia.

Valentine has numerous accomplishments during her tenure in the Assembly. One recent significant outcome is that Central Virginia will now benefit from enhanced rail service to Washington and beyond. Continued work on the combined sewer overflow project is a result of her advocacy on behalf of state support for this critical element of enhanced water quality. She served as patron for legislation that has created art and cultural districts in our cities, and these will continue to help revitalize communities, create jobs and encourage new investment.

The coming years will present many challenges to the commonwealth of Virginia. Economic development, continued enhancement of quality K-12 education and support for higher education including our strong system of private institutions in Central Virginia, are among the many challenges that must be addressed within the context of current realities. We will be well served to continue to be represented by Del. Valentine.

I attended the Voter’s League Candidates Forum on Sept. 17 and now know that Del. Shannon Valentine is the best person to represent the 23rd District in Richmond.

I appreciate her intelligence and her commitment to running a clean and dignified campaign that reflects the character of our community.

For anyone undecided, I urge you to support Del. Shannon Valentine on Nov. 3.

Seeing and hearing Shannon Valentine at the Kemper Station ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 30 for the new Amtrak service between Lynchburg and Washington impressed upon me once again how important Del. Valentine is to the 23rd District.

The part she had in securing this service was significant. Her presentation at the Kemper Station event was, as always, impressive. She represents the district with wisdom, intelligence, graciousness, fairness, hard work and dedication.

This is why on Nov. 3, I will vote to reelect her to the House of Delegates.
