Three groups endorse Putney

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Del. Lacey Putney, I-Bedford, has received endorsements from three lobbying groups in his bid for re-election.

The National Rifle Associa-tion, the National Federation of Independent Business and the Virginia Farm Bureau backed the longest-serving member of Vir-ginia’s House of Delegates.

Putney has two opponents in the Nov. 3 election for the House of Delegates: Democrat Lewis Medlin Jr. of Montvale and William Smith of Botetourt County.

Putney, who has been in the General Assembly since 1962, said he would continue to support the right of law-abiding people to own and use firearms, and would “strengthen the industry of agribusiness,” calling it Virginia’s No. 1 industry.
