The suspect in the Blue Ridge Parkway double-shooting told investigators he was fuzzy and foggy from male enhancement pills.
A federal search warrant filed Thursday states Ralph Leon Jackson, 56, of Stuarts Draft, made a “spontaneous statement” about male enhancement substances and asked if they might “impair an individual’s thinking.“ Authorities searched Jackson’s home again Wednesday to obtain the pills for analysis, according to the warrant.
Jackson is being held on charges of first-degree murder and attempted capital murder in the killing of Timothy P. Davis, 27, of Charlottesville, and the wounding of Christina S. Floyd, 18, of Palmyra. Jackson is accused of firing a shotgun at the backs of the victims April 5 as they watched the sun set off the parkway , 10 miles from the Afton entrance, at Rock Point Overlook.
Authorities with the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office said charges have not been filed in federal court, but that federal investigators have been working the case since the night of the shooting.
Whether to file federal charges “continues to be evaluated as we move through completing the investigation,“ Capt. Glenn Hanger said this morning.
Hanger said some laboratory testing results are expected back soon in relation to the case but that DNA samples will take more time for analysis.
