Rep. Tom Perriello, D-5th District, will speak to the Lynchburg Tea Party on Thursday night during its monthly meeting.
The event will be open to the public and the news media, according to the tea party’s website, unlike its meeting Aug. 5 when Republican candidates Robert Hurt of the 5th District and Bob Goodlatte of the 6th District spoke to a closed meeting of the Lynchburg Tea Party.
The Thursday night meeting will be held at the Lynchburg Elks Club, which has a larger room than the tea party’s previous site in the Monte Carlo restaurant, said Mark Lloyd, chairman of the Lynchburg Tea Party.
The Elks Club is located at 6235 Old Mill Road, just off Graves Mill Road in Lynchburg.
Lloyd said tea party members could arrive at 6:30 p.m. for a $10 buffet.
Perriello is expected to arrive at 8 p.m. and answer questions from the audience, according to a news release from his campaign.
