Update: U.S. 460 reopens after icy hazard cleared, VDOT says

The Virginia Department of Transportation says the U.S. 460 ice incident has been cleared and normal traffic patterns should have resumed.

VDOT says:

"Currently, roads are wet across the much of the Lynchburg district of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and low temperatures and high winds are creating dangerous driving situations at some locations.

Portions of Route 460 West near Route 600 in Appomattox County are reported closed by state police due to icy conditions. Major roads in Amherst, Cumberland, Nelson, as well as Route 40 in Halifax County and portions of Route 29 in northern Pittsylvania County have numerous snow/ice patches on portions of the roadway."

"Message: On US-460 (Richmond Hwy) in the County of Appomattox, in the vicinity of Swan Rd; Rt. 600N/S (Appomattox County), motorists can expect potential delays due to icy conditions. The west left lane and right lane are closed.. Last Updated: 2/10/2010 8:48:30 AM"
