Enrollment at Liberty University has topped 50,000 students, a mile marker that fulfills the late Rev. Jerry Falwell’s vision for the school, according to an LU news release.
When Falwell died in May 2007, his vision for LU was to enroll 25,000 online students and 25,000 residential students, said his son, Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr., in a release.
Currently, about 12,000 residential and 45,000 online students are enrolled at Liberty.
Though enrollment is skewed towards LU Online students, the school is heralding it as a mile-stone nonetheless.
“If our entire student body tried to gather at the Vines Center, we would need a facility seven times that size. We’d have to rent out Dodgers Stadium,” said Falwell.
