Verga to stump in city with 'Joe the Plumber'

»  Comments | Post a Comment

One of the seven Republican candidates for Congress in the 5th District plans to bring “Joe the Plumber” to Lynchburg on Saturday in his bid to unseat Democratic Rep. Tom Perriello.

Laurence Verga, of Albemarle County, has scheduled an appearance at noon Saturday at the Wingate Hotel with Joe Wurzelbacher, who became a well-known conservative figure in 2008 after he questioned then-candidate Barack Obama about his tax plan’s effect on small businesses.

Verga’s stop in Lynchburg is part of a fundraising tour that starts in Charlottesville on Friday and continues in Danville on Saturday morning. Verga is a real estate investor.
