A 2-year-old boy was killed in a four-wheeler accident off Waller Lane in the Dry Fork area of Pittsylvania County.
Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Talyor said a mother — along with her daughter and son — were riding a four-wheeler this morning when the accident occurred.
While Taylor said the investigation is continuing, he says they believe the youngest child fell off the four-wheeler and the ATV then hit a tree.
The son died at the scene. The mother and daughter were transported to Danville Regional Medical Center, Taylor said.
Their conditions are not known at this time. Taylor did not confirm the age of the daughter, just saying she was a young child around the age of the son.
Authorities have not released the names of the victims.
Dorothy Myers, who owns a home at 2080 Waller Lane, said the family who lives at the home where the ATV wrecked has four children.
Two go to school, and two more stay home, Myers said.
She saw the mother riding on a four wheeler earlier in the day. She had two of the children with her, she added.
“I happened to look out the window, and I saw her circling,” Myers said.
