A ban on all outdoor burning has been instituted in Campbell County.
The recent dry weather and drought conditions has created an increase in fire potential and has significantly impacted fire intensity, according to a news release from the Campbell County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Once a fire is ignited, it can spread in all directions, consuming dry grass, brush and other combustibles. Tree limbs and fallen timber can smolder for days.
The ban will remain in place until conditions improve and the fire danger has abated.
For questions about the ban, contact Randall Johnson, Public Safety Deputy Director/Fire Marshal, at (434) 332-9540.
