The boa constrictor found in a Forest neighborhood on Thursday was picked up by its owner the same night, Pet & Aquatic Warehouse staff said.

Reptile supervisor Heather Hargis said the snake’s owner came to pick up his pet about 7 p.m. She identified the snake as a female Colombian Red-Tail Boa Constrictor.

The owner, she said, lived in the same area the snake was found, and told her the boa had escaped from its cage by opening the old screen top of the cage.
