Crime Stoppers: Police investigating theft of steel rods

About four tons pounds of steel rods were stolen sometime over the weekend, police said.

The Lynchburg Police Department is investigation the theft from the 4000 block of Harris Lane. Some-time between Friday and Monday, the stainless steel rods, each measuring three-eighths of an inch by 12 feet, were banded together in three bundles.

The bands that held the rods were removed during the theft.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 798-5900. Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

The person who provided tip number CSI-378-416 is asked to call Lt. J.C. Bauserman with the Lynchburg Police Department at (434) 455-3747 to collect reward money. The call should be made Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
