Lynchburg police captain taking Lexington police chief job

A Lynchburg police captain is Lexington's new police chief.

Capt. Al Thomas, the current top finance administrative officer at the Lynchburg Police Department, is taking the job.

Thomas has worked for Lynchburg police for 25 years.

A panel of five police chiefs plus a citizen's committee picked Thomas.
