Appomattox
- The following Appomattox County students represented the school division at the Virginia School Boards Association Regional Art Contest: Destine’ Berkley of Appomattox Elementary School, Amanda Davis of Appomattox Middle School, and Andrew Russell of Appomattox County High School.
- The following Appomattox County High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America members competed in the FCCLA State Leadership and Recognition Conference: Destinee Dews, FCCLA president, and Danielle Pickett, FCCLA secretary, both earned silver medals in the Focus on Children STAR Event; and Stephanie Cook and Rebekah McQuigg, both Power of One Completers.
Bedford
- In honor of Earth Day 2010, Moneta Elementary School’s Spring Discoveries afterschool enrichment class planted a new bush by the school sign. The project was sponsored by the 21st Century Grant.
- Jefferson Forest High School student Paige Hammock recently won a Scott Insurance Annual College Scholarship for the 2010-2011 school year. Hammock, a senior, will attend Lynchburg College and plans to major in International Relations. She is the daughter of Tom and Cary McFadden and Robert Hammock.

- Jan Wiley of Hutcherson Early Learning Center was recently named Lynchburg City School’s ‘Teacher of the Year’. Wiley was nominated by her school and was one of 18 candidates.
- Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School for Innovation students Kayla Venable and Donovan Esdaile had poems chosen for submission to the 14th annual Student Poetry Contest sponsored by the American Library of Poetry.
