- The Wingate Hotel has formed a partnership with William M. Bass Elementary School as part of Lynchburg City School’s Partners in Education program. The partnership means employees of the Wingate will become student lunch buddies and library volunteers. Teachers will also benefit by taking part in a monthly raffle for a free night’s stay at the Wingate.
- Sonny Phillips, an E.C. Glass High School alumnus, recently donated $10,000 to the school’s band program. The donation was prompted by media coverage regarding the theft of the band’s trailer.
