For those area pet lovers who can’t get enough of that wet-dog smell, or enjoy the splatter of droplets when a furry friend shakes himself dry (well, dry-ish), Miller Park Pool is the place to be next Saturday.
Friends of the Lynchburg Dog Park has organized a “Paws in the Pool” event to benefit efforts to build a dog park in the city, after Lynchburg recently lost out on a grant contest for the park.
From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., man’s best friend will take over man’s favorite summertime spot, and lucky doggies will bag prizes for their looks or abilities.
Contests include cutest wet dog, best water trick, cutest dog swimsuit and dog limbo.
For those without a canine companion, mammals of the two-legged variety will also be allowed at the event.
Admission is $15 per dog, $10 per human, and $5 for children under 12.
Tickets can be purchased at the Lynchburg Parks and Recreation Department’s Miller Center, 301 Grove St. — cash or check only.
Dogs at the event must be over six months old and have current rabies vaccinations.
