Spirit of the Season

Elves couldn’t be much busier than Jennifer Brewer. You’ll find her in a small room in The Farm Basket, surrounded by ribbons, bows, tape and all kinds of Christmas wrapping paper.

Here, she wraps 300 or so items a day during the Christmas season — gifts destined for placement underneath trees in the Lynchburg area and beyond.  The store begins ordering supplies in July to prepare for the onslaught of free gift-wrapping requests for the holidays.

The best part? Giving customers their presents all day long.

“It’s nice to hand people a gift and say, ‘Merry Christmas,’” she said, “and you didn’t have to pay for the gift.”
