Local legislators' tax-credit bills pass early tests

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Bills that would give tax credits to owners of wine vineyards, and to companies that do research-and-development work in Virginia, both were approved in a House of Delegates subcommittee Friday morning.

The tax credit for wineries was sponsored by Del. Scott Garrett, R-Lynchburg. Garrett said Lynchburg hotels and restaurants benefit when tourists visit wineries in Central Virginia.

The tax credit for business R&D was sponsored by Del. Ben Cline, who said it would create jobs and generate revenue for the state.

Gov. Bob McDonnell supports both bills.
