Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., endorsed Bert Dodson Monday for state Senate in the new 22nd District, which includes northern Lynchburg as well as Amherst and Appomattox counties.
Warner also will appear with Dodson at a fund-raising event in Lynchburg on Friday, according to the Lynchburg Democratic Committee.
Warner said Dodson, a former Lynchburg city councilman and vice mayor, has both business and government experience and supports efficient government as well as public education.
“Bert has the experience we need to help create jobs and keep Virginia moving forward,” Warner said.
In next fall’s general election, Dodson will face the winner of an Aug. 23 Republican primary in which five candidates are running.
