Pedestrian, driver hurt in Pierce Street crash

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Tuesday evening wreck that sent a pedestrian and a driver to the hospital may have been caused by a medical condition, Lynchburg police said.

Officer Ronnie Sitler said shortly after 4:15 p.m., James Tesi, 34, of Lynchburg, hit a pedestrian with his 1987 Toyota Celica convertible in the 800 block of Pierce Street.

Tesi continued down Pierce Street and into the parking lot at Harris Tire, at the intersection of Pierce and Fifth streets, where he struck the rear end of a parked tractor-trailer.

Both Tesi and the pedestrian, Samuel Moorman, were taken to Lynchburg General Hospital with injuries Sitler said did not appear life-threatening.

Sitler said Tesi is being evaluated to see whether a medical condition caused the wreck.

The police department's traffic unit is investigating the wreck to determine if any charges will be filed.
