A forum for General Assembly candidates, sponsored by the state and Lynchburg chambers of commerce, is expected to feature six candidates for three offices at Liberty University Tuesday.
The forum will mark the campaign season’s first joint appearance by Democrat Bert Dodson of Lynchburg and Republican Tom Garrett of Louisa County in their race for the new 22nd District seat in the state Senate.
But two candidates for contested House of Delegates seats won’t appear in the forum, according to the Virginia Chamber of Commerce.
In a House of Delegates contest, Republican Matt Fariss of Campbell County and independent Linda Wall of Appomattox will answer questions from chamber members starting at 5 p.m. at the LU School of Law.
Democrat Connie Brennan of Nelson County will be absent.
Brennan, a Nelson County supervisor, said she will be participating in a Board of Supervisors meeting tonight in Lovingston.
In the House race involving the Bedford area, independent Del. Lacey Putney and Democratic challenger Lewis Medlin of Montvale are expected to appear in the forum at 7 p.m., said Ryan Dunn of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce.
Jerry Johnson, the Republican candidate in the Bedford-area race, will not attend, Dunn said.
Garrett won a five-way Republican primary on Aug. 23 to capture the party’s nomination for the newly created Senate district. He and Dodson are on the program at 6 p.m.
