The driver in Tuesday night’s wreck that killed two in Bedford County was identified Wednesday as a Goodview man.

Andrew William Heck Jr., 44, was driving a 1986 Chevrolet pickup truck southbound on Mill Iron Road, according to the Virginia State Police. Heck lost control as the vehicle traveled over railroad tracks at the intersection of Goodview Road, became airborne and crashed into the Goodview Grocery Store around 8:30 p.m.

The vehicle caught fire.

Heck was taken to the hospital but later died, but Sgt. Robert Carpentieri confirmed Wednesday. Carpentieri said the identity of the passenger, who died at the scene, will be released after positive identification at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Roanoke.
