Flames' McKay hires assistant coach

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Liberty University Flames hope a new assistant coach can bring his winning ways from Division II to the men’s basketball program.

The school announced Monday that head men’s coach Ritchie McKay hired Kyle Getter from Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio, where he was the top assistant.

McKay said that Getter brings a wealth of experience as an assistant to the Flames.

Before his stay at Walsh, Getter made a number of stops in Division I, including serving as director of basketball operations at Marshall University. At Marshall, Getter was responsible for everything from recruiting to player academics.

At Walsh last year, he helped coach the Cavaliers to a 26-5 record and a second round appearance in the NAIA Division II National Tournament.
