LAST WEEK: JF had a bye; E.C. Glass defeated Heritage 43-36 in overtime.
LAST YEAR: E.C. Glass won 23-17.
FACTS: Both teams are coming off impressive wins. Jefferson Forest drilled Rockbridge County 40-6 on Aug. 29 and E.C. Glass won a thriller over previously unbeaten city rival, Heritage, 43-36 in overtime last week. The Cavaliers appear primed for a playoff push and could definitely benefit from the extra power points gained in knocking off a Group AAA school. With the Hilltoppers’ victory over Pioneers, E.C. Glass has already matched its win total from 2007 when the only game it won was a 23-17 victory over JF. Glass’ special teams figured in four of the Hilltoppers’ touchdowns last week. The Cavaliers will turn to a strong running attack led by Desmond Goode and a destructive defense that held the Wildcats without a first down until late in the third quarter.
