Lynchburg fell 8-7 in 10 innings of action in the rubber match of a three-game set at Wilmington on Sunday.

The Blue Rocks would get on the board first with a first-inning home run by Mike Moustakas, his second homer in as many games. The Hillcats answered with three runs in the third to take a 3-1 lead.

Alex Presley started the scoring with an RBI single and Jordy Mercer gave the ’Cats their first lead with a two-run double. It was the fourth time this season Mercer has put the Hillcats in front with a base hit.

In the fifth, Lynchburg added three more runs. Mercer drove-in his third run of the day with a sacrifice fly. Miles Durham brought in the other two runs with a double to give Lynchburg a 6-1 edge.

Wilmington cut into that advantage with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth. A pair of walks and an error helped the Rocks score two without the benefit of a hit. It would stay a three-run lead for Lynchburg until the eighth when the Blue Rocks struck for four runs to take a one-run lead. David Lowe drove-in the first run of the inning. Paulo Orlando smacked a three-run home run to put Wilmington in front 7-6.

In the ninth inning, Lynchburg was down to their final out when Pedro Alvarez smacked a solo home run to deep right-center field to tie the game at 7-7.

Wilmington broke the tie in the bottom of the 10th with a game-winning bunt single by Anthony Seratelli to give the Rocks the victory. The walk-off win gave Wilmington the series victory, 2-1.

The victory went to Aaron Hartsock (1-0) for Wilmington (7-4). The loss went to Christian Castorri (0-1) for Lynchburg (7-4), which lost its first series of the season.

The ’Cats return home tonight for game one of a three-game series with Frederick at 6:05 p.m. at City Stadium. Left-hander Justin Wilson (1-0, 6.00) will toe the rubber for Lynchburg opposite righty Pedro Beato (0-1, 4.00) for Frederick.
