Altavista improves to 4-0 with rout of R-H

ALTAVISTA — Chris Clark scored three rushing touchdowns on just nine total carries to highlight an Altavista attack that produced 187 rushing yards in a 57-14 rout of Randolph-Henry.

Clark started off the Altavista scoring with a 5-yard run in the first quarter. The Colonels added two more touchdowns in the first quarter, a 15-yard fumble return from Lee Miller and a 16-yard strike from Johnny Wimbish to Jarrod Hunt.

Hunt would score a second touchdown in the third quarter on a 56-yard interception return. Randolph- Henry eked out just 123 yards of total offense on a night punctuated by Josh Haskins' 91-yard kickoff return in the first quarter.

Hunter Shelhorse nearly matched Haskins in the third quarter, taking the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown. Shelhorse totaled 191 total yards on kickoff returns. Wimbish led the Colonels with 87 yards on nine carries. Quincy Thompson had 39 yards on four carries for Randolph.

Staunton River 42, James River 33

BUCHANAN — One week after snapping their 28-game losing streak, the Golden Eagles won again.

Meech Coles rushed for an eye-popping 327 yards and four touchdowns on 45 carries for the Golden Eagles (2-3), who rolled up 471 yards in total offense.

William Campbell 14, Magna Vista 8

NARUNA — Terrence Younger caught two touchdown passes from Devante Easley, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter, as the Generals improved to 2-2.

Younger, who had 150 yards on 7 receptions, had TD catches of 32 and 49 yards in the dogfight that was scoreless through the first two quarters. Easley completed 8 of 10 passes for 192 yards and had 25 yards rushing on 11 carries.

LCA 57, Covenant 17

After falling behind by 10 points, the Bulldogs woke up and scored 49 unanswered points on the Eagles.

LCA quarterback Seth Good ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more during the scoring onslaught. Terrence Caskey added a 33-yard TD run and Ray Jones returned a fumble 22 yards for a score. Cory Harrington closed out the scoring with a 14-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

Good completed 12 of 15 attempts for 213 yards, including a pair of TD throws to Dimitri Knowles of 41 and 36 yards.
