Lynchburg scored five runs in the first inning to jump to an early lead, and the bullpen held strong to give the Hillcats a 5-4 road victory over the Dash on Sunday.
Felix Perez, Neftali Soto and Jordan Wideman all doubled in a run in the first frame. Shane Carlson also singled in a pair of runs in the first.
The Dash answered in the second inning with three runs of their own, and closed the gap to 5-4 with another run in the fifth.
Starter Mark Serrano had to leave the game with an apparent injury in the third inning. The pen combined to give up just one run in seven innings of action to secure the win.
The Cats go for the three-game series sweep of the Dash at 7 tonight in Winston-Salem, N.C.
