Myrtle Beach evened up the four-game series against Lynchburg with a 6-0 win over the Hillcats on Thursday.
Left-hander Matt Crim held Lynchburg scoreless through seven innings to end his five-game losing skid.
Myrtle Beach got on the board in the bottom of the third inning with three runs. L.V. Ware started the scoring with an RBI single. Cole Miles brought in another run with a sacrifice fly and Mycal Jones smacked an RBI double to finish the scoring in the inning. In the fourth inning the Pelicans padded their lead with a another run. Miles brought in that run with a ground out.
The Pelicans continued to build on to their advantage in the sixth with two more runs. Miles singled in another run to give him three RBIs on the night and Mycal Jones brought in a run with a base hit as well to make it a 6-0 game.
The loss went to starter Chase Ware (0-1) for Lynchburg (9-12, 37-53) and the win went to Crim (5-9) for Myrtle Beach (9-12, 35-56). With the series even at a game a piece, the set continues on tonight at 7:05 p.m. at BB&T Coastal Field. Right-hander James Avery (4-3, 3.40) is scheduled to start for the Cats opposite righty Julio Teheran (3-3, 2.92) for the Birds.
