Danica Patrick preps for NASCAR transition

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Danica Patrick's 2012 race season will be a lot less complicated.  Last year, she bounced back and forth between the NASCAR Nationwide and the Indy Car series, and the different challenges of each couldn't have been easy.

Now Danica will race Nationwide full time in the GoDaddy.com Chevy of JR Motorsports, and will add ten Cup races to her schedule with Stewart-Haas racing. Patrick has already announced that she will not race in the Indy 500 this year, but will instead compete in the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte in the Cup race.

She became the first female to win an Indy Car race when she won in Japan, but she explains that her career and goals aren't revolving around achieving things for the sake of female athletes.  Patrick readily admits that the fact that she is a woman, has opened some doors for her.  But she adds that in order for those doors to stay open, she has to perform on the track.
