Liberty broke open a close game with a 21-2 run that spanned both halves Monday, sending the Lady Flames to 78-51 win over Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C.
It was Liberty’s seventh straight win and pushes its overall record to 13-7 and 8-1 in the Big South.
Reagan Miller led the way for Liberty, hitting a career-high five 3-pointers and equaling her career high with 18 points. The loss extends Gardner Webb’s losing skid to five and the Runnin‘ Bulldogs are 1-8 in the conference.
Liberty held a 28-24 lead with three minutes left in the first half. The Lady Flames closed out the half with an 8-0 run, taking a 36-24 lead into the locker room. Liberty came out in the second half equally hot, starting the period with a 13-2 run.
The Lady Flames stretched their lead to 60-30 midway through the second half and Gardner-Webb got no closer than 27 points the rest of the way.
Avery Warley chipped in with 13 points and 12 rebounds, he sixth double-double in 10 games against the Runnin’ Bulldogs.
Liberty returns to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Campbell, with a chance to win the 300th game in coach Carey Green's 13-year career in the 1,000th game of the program's history.
