Liberty broke open a close game with a 21-2 run that spanned both halves Monday, sending the Lady Flames to 78-51 win over Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C. It was Liberty’s seventh straight win and pushes its overall record to 13-7 and 8-1 in the Big South. Reagan Miller led the way for Liberty, hitting a career-high five 3-pointers and equaling her career high with 18 points. The loss extends Gardner Webb’s losing skid to five and the Runnin‘ Bulldogs are 1-8 in the conference.
RADFORD — For the first time all year, an opponent schemed specifically to slow down Liberty forward Antwan Burrus. And early on Saturday at Radford’s Dedmon Center, Burrus didn’t respond. His first 10 minutes were as rough a stretch as he’s played all season. He missed his first two shots and had three turnovers, and he finished the half scoreless.
