»  Comments | Post a Comment

The first public rides of Kings Dominion's newest thrill ride will be auctioned for charity.

Kings Dominion's Intimidator 305 "giga-coaster" will debut April 2, with the proceeds from the first-ride auction going to the Dale Earnhardt Foundation, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Challenge Discovery Projects Inc. and the USO of Hampton Roads.

Guests can bid on-line to win a seat on one of the first four 32-seat trains thundering around the 93-mph, 305-foot tall coaster on opening day.

The bidding started at $100 per seat for the first four trains to run at the Hanover County theme park. The auction closes at 11:59 p.m. March 25.

Intimidator 305, inspired by stock car racing's Dale Earnhardt, is the tallest and fastest roller coaster of its type on the East Coast.

The Dale Earnhardt Foundation supports programs for children, education, and environmental and wildlife preservation. Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the special wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Challenge Discovery Projects Inc. is a non-profit organization that works to improve the quality of life for at-risk youth and families in the Richmond region. The USO provides morale, welfare and recreation services for U.S armed forces members and their families.
